For all new members, welcome! We have only one official rule here: don't say bad things about other web sites. Otherwise, please speak freely. HOWEVER we do insist on treating other members with respect and decency. It's okay to disagree and argue about any topic, but please do not degenerate into personal attacks and name calling. Joking around is fine, but make sure it's obvious that you are kidding.

In a nutshell: Clarkey's was founded by expatriates from Virginia Hey's former BB and Chat. Over there, some of us had grown to care about one another to such a degree that we wanted to stay together as a group. Clarkey already had a site set up and he offerred to let us use it. This occurred in early December of 2002. Since then, we have slowly grown to what we are today.

But what, exactly, are we? Unlike other BB's or chatrooms, we don't have a particular celebrity or theme holding us together (although Virginia Hey might be considered our foster-mother). Most (but not all) of us have some interest in the science fiction/fantasy/horror genre of television, film, and literature, but that only accounts for roughly half our postings. Virtually anything and everything is a potential topic for discussion. So don't be shy about posting anything that interests you. We have perhaps the world's largest collection of emoticons for your use. Just click on "View more Emoticons" when you're posting and wait for the page to load up (it might take a few minutes). Andy G. also has a photo gallery on site of Sci-fi conventions he's attended, with a large number of celebrity pics. Click on his website button (in his profile or postings) to access it. If you need technical help, several of our members are well qualified to answer your questions. Don't be embarrassed to ask what you might feel is a "stupid" question.

Voluntary stuff: I also keep a listing of members' birthdays so that when the day arrives, we have an excuse to celebrate and to wish the B-day boy/girl all the best. If you wish to participate, just let me know the date and I'll do the rest. I also keep a photo gallery of members on my web site, so we know what we look like. If you would like to have your photo displayed (and a link to your web site, if you have one) let me know. Many members have chosen to use a particular emoticon as a "signature". If you choose to do so, please select one that is not already being used. All of this is, of course, strictly voluntary.

We care a great deal about each other. We'd like you to become part of it. As one of our members, Runic, once said: "There's a lot of love here." Drink it in.

BTW,Aztil, don't worry about that. We've had some battles here, but I, for one, have grown a thicker skin and still appreciate our little community - even those who have decided to leave (only temporarily, I hope.). :mrgreen:
